[What happened is a handy dandy sticker that's left him quite confident. Don't worry about it G'raha...it's best to just accept him for what he is right now...before it inevitably wears off and he turns into an embarrassed mess.
Rounding the corner of the street they come across the building, Hermes wasting no time in entering, following the signage to the room where they would contract.]
I believe so, yes. I see no reason to make things complicated.
[G'raha has learned that here, you accept a good many things you simply don't understand, so that confidence--while it poses a passing curiosity--is not something he's overly worried about. Oh no, he has plenty more things to actually worry about.
He follows Hermes, looking around with a barely-concealed interest.]
Yes, I agree. It's best for things to be straightforward.
[He's just. Not going to think about what this actually means.]
[It doesn't take long for Hermes to find the room, the clerks inside instructing them on what was needed from them to contract. Did they want to tack on anything extra? Would the standard document do? Hermes nods and takes the pen handed to him to sign off on it before handing it to G'raha. With the task completed he can't help but smile with relief.]
[It's quite a bit simpler than G'raha had been anticipating, but then, he is used to dealing with the processes of Sharlayan, so perhaps this is all it takes. They simply sign the form, and that's that. It's all very anticlimactic, but G'raha is visibly relieved. Enough so that he smiles when Hermes suggests they congratulate themselves.]
I suppose so! I'll admit, it does feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders, not having to worry about this.
[The relief on Hermes' face is quite visible as he smiles down at G'raha, nodding to the person who takes their paperwork and gives him a few papers in return.]
Ah. Here. This apparently will allow you to work and purchase goods as you see fit. Hopefully it will make things less restrictive. A copy should be sent to your device later.
[G'raha again perks up--he seems to do that quite often--when he is handed the papers. Oh, it is a relief to be able to find a way to provide for himself! Without this, it had felt too much like begging for scraps; being so restricted is not a good feeling, though he has made it work so far.
And as of now, he won't need to for the foreseeable future. What a relief. He smiles at Hermes, and bows his head in thanks.]
This will help quite a bit, thank you. And if there is anything you would ask of me, please do not hesitate!
[Ah, it will be so nice to have a proper place to live. G'raha is not picky, not at all! It's only that... well, his housing has left a bit to be desired.]
Thank you, truly. I will, of course, help out around the apartment! Any chores you would like me to do will be done!
[G'raha is, fortunately, naturally confident in situations like this. He's a hard worker!]
As long as the place is kept tidy and clean. That is all I ask.
[Really, he doesn't expect G'raha to be a live in maid.]
My familiar will be with us as well - Caduceus. He is a serpent but quite well behaved. I think he will be happy to have another warm body to curl around.
[G’raha says it with the confidence of a man used to living on his own, and then a man used to cleaning up after a small child. His own space is often haphazardly arranged, a bit cluttered but not messy; communal spaces, on the other hand, should be kept clean. And he fully intends to be an excellent roommate—not to mention he doesn’t exactly own any possessions.
Now, he is interested in this familiar. ]
Caduceus? Fascinating, I should be glad to meet him. [G’raha has no problem with fellows of the serpentine variety.]
[Ah, this is going splendidly. How worried he'd been about signing a contract and look! Everything has worked out wonderfully. He throws G'raha another smile, relieved.]
Shall we return then, to the apartment? You can become acquainted with your new space and should you need assistance moving your belongings from the Down I would be pleased to help.
[Well, it's quite a simple matter to move... G'raha has very few belongings with him here. It makes things all the easier! As it stands, he's quite eager to get to know his way around, to see places he has so far not been able to. And to get a bit more acquainted with his friend, his familiar, and where they live.]
I would be happy to accompany you to the apartment, if you would not mind showing the way. Fortunately, my belongings should be gathered in a small trip back, so I shall concern myself with that later.
[A bit eager, perhaps. But this is very much a relief. G'raha had been starting to grow concerned about finding a contract, and what better a companion than someone he has met and is comfortable with? ...Regardless of the outcome the man may create in a future in a different world. Problems for another time.]
[With their contract signed and their fates for three months sealed, Hermes is more than eager to lead G'raha back to his apartment. It doesn't take long either, considering he's still living in the housing that had been provided to him. When they arrive he pushes open the door, holding it for G'raha to enter after him.]
Here we are. It isn't anything fancy but I have never been one for luxury. Over there is the spare room which is all yours. Please, make yourself comfortable.
[What a polite man, too. G'raha nods his thanks and steps through the door, glancing around while he does. It really is worlds away from his now-previous housing--so much bigger, and he doesn't have to share a room with anyone. It's enough to make his tail move with a mind of its own, clearly excited about the prospect.]
It's so big!
[Nothing fancy? This is so much fancier than what he'd been living in! And... he won't have to be by himself. That is always a nice thing.]
[Ah, that tail of his and the way it swishes...it's far too endearing. Pressing a knuckle against his lips he stifles a sound of delight at the sight of his happy, new friend.]
Is it? [Honestly he finds it a bit small but then again...Hermes is a tall lad.] I am glad you find it to your suiting. It is all yours. Pray, decorate and furnish it however you wish.
[ Oh, he can decorate? G'raha has not had a place to properly decorate; even his room back when he was a student was simply borrowed, and pages on the walls are hardly considered decor. Although they might as well be, with how many would end up papering the place over the years and the different students. ]
Do you have no interest in making it resemble home?
[ He considers the walls--a bit bare--but is a bit unsure of how he would personally decorate it. Perhaps... a plant, on the table? A plant would be nice. Maybe they could get one. ]
[It hadn't, truly, as part of him had been still thinking all of this was just some very weird dream that he'd eventually wake from. It was definitely him coping and not wanting to accept the reality of the fate that had befallen their star...but home, huh?]
I ought to get more greenery if this is going to be my new home.
[G'raha nods, finished looking around, and turns back to Hermes.]
If you'd like to decorate together, I think it might be enjoyable. I have never really cohabited with anyone before.
[No, communal dorms do not count! Particularly not in Sharlayan, where most were sequestered away studying, or in the library, or conducting research. G'raha himself was not often in his own room.]
[It would be a novel experience for him as well, transforming a space to fit not only his own tastes but that of someone else. An interesting task and challenge, but one he's certainly up to.]
Books are quite good. I am not sure what sort of selection this place has to offer...but from what I have seen many publications seem to be of the erotic sort.
[Not surprising there.]
We could certainly get a few shelves though...mayhap some plants as well. I am rather fond of flowers.
[A brief look of embarrassment crosses G'raha's face at the reminder of the type of reading material they'd most likely find here. He has, of course, come across certain erotic novels and manuals in his years and years of reading, and has... read them, a bit. Not that he would ever admit it. But he does not particularly want a collection of them, heavens.]
Y-yes, flowers. Flowers are quite nice! They'd brighten up the space quite a lot, I believe.
[G'raha hasn't really tried his hand at gardening much, but he wouldn't mind it.]
